Film Review: The Fault In Our Stars (TFIOS)

Thursday, June 26, 2014

So I reviewed the book The Fault in Our Stars a couple of posts ago, now however it has been made into a must see movie. Since it was such an amazing book I decided to give it a watch. Being quite honest I was really nervous about going to see it! I was panicking thinking; will I cry, won't I cry, will people think I've got no emotions if I don't? Truthfully, I found it hard not to cry. Sobbing. I wasn't crying after that film...I was sobbing- me, Laura and Abbie (my friends) we had to stop ourselves from crying too much. You know when you start to cry but sometimes the emotions too strong then those little gasps start to pop out? That's what we had to try to stop, being in a cinema watching a very emotional film isn't easy.

The film was a credit to whoever made it! It stuck to the book with great detail from the very beginning, it's like the book is coming to life in front of your eyes. TFIOS was everything I expected and more. The settings, the way in which the characters are portrayed- just everything about it. I think the beauty of it is that you can still feel those same emotions that you'd feel when you read the book at a heightened level.

or go on this brief explanation. TFIOS is the film adaptation of the book by John Green. It's the story of Hazel Grace Lancaster (told by Hazel Grace herself) who has suffered from cancer since she was 13, always being terminal. When she begins a support group she befriends a gorgeous looking boy going by the name of Augustus Waters. They embark on a whirlwind romantic journey as they change everything for each other with their close bond. Hazel is different from other cancer sufferers just like Augustus. Hazel knows she's dying, she isn't afraid because inevitably she knows we all die anyway. This is a must watch film.

With stunning performances from Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort as Hazel and Augustus, the adaptation directed by Josh Boone will make you laugh, cry and maybe cry some more.
