Book Review: Connor Franta- A Work in Progress
Friday, October 09, 2015
Okay, so this year I met Conor Franta the cutest American you tuber you may have ever laid eyes on. Super sweet and a dreamy smile. Beckie. Stop.
I recently read Connor's Book in a day. Yes, I did stay in all day and it was 211 pages long but it was truly inspiring. Connor writes from the heart, from the soul. You know when you can just feel it? The honesty in the way he writes. It's so liberating to read about someone talking about their life; it's hard to describe reading about someones perception of themselves. Maybe because I couldn't imagine doing it myself. That's why I admire Connor so much- it's brave putting yourself of the line, sure someone may say he's not, he's only written his story. I think that's what it is though, he's written all his feelings down for everyone to see. Could you see yourself doing that? Personally, I've had a lot happen in the last few years but I know writing it down would be such a challenge.
Being a creative Connor poured all his passion into this and wanted it to be the best he possibly could provide- not for money or the fame- simply because he wanted to share his experiences and feelings with his fans, the world. I laughed, I cried and I wished I could create such a stunning work of art. The book itself is so tumblr it's painful- I mean this in a good way...I love tumblr.
Look, I'm aware that this isn't as great as my reviews of fiction books. They're so different that I don't think it's about comparison. I loved this book more than anything it's truth, it's eloquent, it's real, it's life. 'A Work in Progress' isn't this what we all are? The work is our life always progressing. Progressing even though we may feel like we've taken a thousand steps back. It made me think how after everything I've been through and what I may go through my work is still progressing never moving back; maybe on pause or slowed down but never backwards. Always look ahead.
