Film Review: Me and Earl and the Dying Girl

Monday, August 24, 2015

Currently as I sit here on my bed you may begin to wonder why I've named this post 'Me and Earl and the Dying Girl'. Am I right? Well that's because I'm going to express to you invisible readers my thoughts on it. Beckie, you may say, this film isn't released yet. To which I'd reply ahh yes young grasshopper but if you are wise and go to the unseen screenings (courtesy of odeon) you could of.
Indie. Typically that's what it makes me think of, one of those cool indie films that always manage to delve a bit deeper than usual. It's also a cancer film, which are like marmite...you love it or hate it.
However, this was one of the most interesting films for me. First off, lets just start with how light hearted it is. You can't help but laugh at some of the awkwardly true teenage moments and love them. Earl, thank you my friend for being truly hilarious! I feel like this film is kind of a mash up of cliché's, I often think me and my friends could be a legit E4 drama (truthfully I do) but this is hmm what's a word? Instead I'll roll a few of this keyboard:
  • Awkward
  • Hilarious
  • Teenage
  • True
  • Relatable
  • Awkward
  • Brilliant
  • Interesting
  • Sad
Is that enough I dunno? So clearly this isn't really a film review, it's just me saying I really enjoyed 'Me and Earl and the Dying Girl'. Obviously, this won't be as good as King Penny's reviews (linked below-READ THEM...LIFE).

Message from me: I got from this film that we shouldn't take things for granted but also maybe we shouldn't take life so seriously either. Be who you are, do what you want to do, don't be invisible yet don't conform to social groups either. Live life your way.
